Altrincham FC were beaten 2-0 at home by Steven Gerrard Academy in the National League. The visitors scored a goal in each half to secure the points, leaving the Robins frustrated despite a strong second-half showing.
A penalty awarded to Altrincham offered a route back into the game, but the spot-kick was missed. Steven Gerrard Academy also had a chance from 12 yards but failed to add a third goal. The match was competitive throughout.
Phil Parkinson's side had made 14 appearances on the day, with a young squad including Will Rodwell, Harry Cain, Charlie Barnes, Ish Infanda and Eoghan Walker. Callum Dakin, Gio Ezomo, Dan Farrar, Jeo Bushidi, Josh Herreaman, Will Molloy, Zach Crisp, Tom Tattersall, Elliot Batty, Callum Meppem and Noah Edwards were also named.
The result halts a positive run of form for Altrincham, who had won four of their last five league games. They sit 10th in the National League with 15 points from nine matches. The team's next fixture is a home match against AFC Hornchurch on Saturday. Hornchurch are one place above Altrincham in ninth position.
