Altrincham made it back-to-back league wins with a hard-fought 2-1 victory at AFC Fylde on Saturday. The result lifts the Robins to 10th place in the National League, with 15 points from their opening nine matches.

Kyle Hemmings opened the scoring in the 15th minute, finishing off a move created by Matty Kosylo. The hosts hit back quickly through Tom Whelan just two minutes later, but Altrincham restored their lead almost immediately. Kosylo turned scorer in the 20th minute, converting a chance set up by Alex Barlow to secure the three points.

The win follows a 2-1 home success against Hartlepool United three days earlier, where Hemmings and Tom Crawford were on target. That run of form, four wins from their last five games, has pushed Altrincham into the top half of the standings, now just eight points behind leaders Boreham Wood.

Manager Phil Parkinson was pleased with the character shown by his side.

Altrincham have now scored 12 goals this season but have conceded 15, leaving them with a minus-three goal difference they will look to improve. Attention now turns to a home fixture against AFC Hornchurch next Saturday. Hornchurch currently sit one place above the Robins in ninth, setting up another key contest.
