Altrincham have moved quickly to sign goalkeeper Michael Acquah as emergency cover. The 22-year-old joins after first-choice keeper Owen Evans suffered an injury in Saturday's 5-1 defeat at Woking.
Acquah, who was previously with Huddersfield Town's under-21 side, has been training with the Robins since July. He will be on the bench for tonight's home match against Hartlepool United, a side Altrincham beat 2-1 just last week. The club announced the signing on Wednesday.
"Welcome to Altrincham, Michael!!!" the club said in a brief statement.
The move provides vital squad depth as Altrincham prepare for a tough trip to face second-placed AFC Fylde this weekend. Phil Parkinson's side currently sit 12th in the National League with 12 points from eight games. Acquah's immediate role is to support the goalkeeping unit while Evans recovers.
