Gibson thought Daley-Campbell was let-off after committing what he believed was a similar foul in the first half of his side’s 3-1 defeat to the Shrimpers. “I spoke to the fourth official in the first half when their right-back stopped Liam Humbles making his way through with a hand to the face,” Gibson told the club's YouTube channel.

However, Gibson was happy how his side kept going in difficult circumstances. “I was pleased with the way stuck to their task because they easily could’ve felt sorry for themselves against a really good Southend team who I think will be up there. You can see the type of players they were able to bring on from the bench, the level and their strength of depth and I was pleased with how players reacted to a couple of mistakes and things that went against us.”
